God Richly Blessed the Social Ministry Hoe Down!

Under the guidance of Dolly Mueller and her committee members, the Hoe Down was TONS of FUN, and we raised a large amount of money for Kent’s Social Ministry.  We were hoping for a great turnout, and God filled our Fellowship Hall to overflowing.  Every table was full and there were even people eating outside.

Our church is blessed to have so much talent within our congregation.  The Brandmeyers, Jan Ellis and Shirley Clark did a flawless job of making the Fellowship Hall look like a real Hoe Down event complete with a chuck wagon.  Evelyn Clements and her team worked on organizing the lovely tables of baskets for the silent auctions and the baked goods for the live auction.

Everyone enjoyed the BBQ pulled pork, and kids both young and old loved the grilled hot dogs.  All of the homemade potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans, and brownies were absolutely scrumptious.  THANKS to everyone who donated money to underwrite the meat, donated food items for the dinner, baskets and items for the silent auction, and baked goods for the live auction. With such a wonderful auctioneer exciting the crowd, we saw that some pies and baked goodies are just about priceless.

This Social Ministry fund raiser was a big task, and we could not have done it without your help.  Whether you were working in the kitchen and serving food or selling tickets and collecting money, your volunteer hours made this event a success.

The Hoe Down proceeds included:

  • · $1,392.00 from the Silent Auctions

  • · $2,877.00 from the Live Auctions

  • · $ 338.00 from the Raffle

  • · $1,968.05 from the Dinner Tickets and money donations

This made a total of $6,575.05 plus we will receive $350 matching funds from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

The grand total of the Hoe Down was $6,925.05, and it will go into the Social Ministry fund for much needed help to our community.  Once again a BIG THANK YOU to each and every person who worked and donated food and money to this very worthwhile project. We at Kent Memorial are truly blessed to have such a caring congregation!
