WITHIN THE CONGREGATION:

Small Groups

Ladies Bible Study  Wednesdays at 9:00 a.m.
Join others of our congregation spending time in Bible study and prayer.

Men’s Devotion & Bible Study  Thursdays at 10:00 a.m.
A chance for the men of Kent to gather, share Bible study and fellowship.

Women of the ELCA (WELCA)  1st Tuesday of each month at 11:00 a.m.
The women of Kent Memorial are brought together during the Church year, giving them a chance to get to know each other while participating is various endeavors that benefit our surrounding community and throughout the world.

The Altar Guild of Kent Memorial serves under the auspices of the Worship and Music Committee and is responsible for all things having to do with the liturgical space and its furnishings.  The Guild meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 9:30 a.m.

Christian Education focuses on growing in faith together through Vacation Bible School, Adult Bible study and Sunday morning classes.

Evangelism – This committee meets the first Monday of the month at 9:30 a.m. They help us serve various needs in our community as well as the social needs of our congregation, such as receptions, fellowship times, etc. They organize outings to plays and musicals for the members and lead the support for the nearly 200 children at Hurricane Deck Elementary School and South Elementary School for Buddy Packs, Trunk or Treat, Christmas goody bags, the Christmas Store, the annual Cake Walk, etc. Each week they oversee Coffee Hosts and Donut Pick-Up for our coffee fellowship.

Greeters & Ushers – Help welcome worshippers, make visitors welcome and assist with the worship service.

Property Committee – These folks make sure the grounds and buildings are kept cleaned up and in good repair.

The Vocal Choir and the Handbell Choir provide special music on Sunday mornings and for special services at the church. New members are always welcome.

Worship & Music – The committee, along with Altar Guild, assists the pastor and church council in assuring that the worship services at Kent are conducted regularly and in accordance with the liturgy of the ELCA.

OUTREACH TO OTHERS:

Assistance To Our Partner Schools – Members of Kent Memorial regularly assist the teachers, parents and students of our two partner elementary schools by making copies, creating computer presentations, making goodies for the teachers and the children, donating baked goods for the PTO fundraisers and school supplies for the back-to-school fairs. The Women of the ELCA (WELCA) group donates gift cards to the teachers each fall to help them purchase needed supplies and to prepare their classrooms for the start of another school year.

Community for Christ Outreach Center – Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. during our scheduled weeks.

Kent Klowns – from leading worship to painting faces and making children smile, this group’s purpose is to Share Jesus With All.

Laurie Care Center/Laurie Knolls – helping the residents of the Center with various needs, from serving ice cream to helping with BINGO and everything in between.

Long Range Planning – this group currently helps administer the Stewart-McFaden Scholarship Fund, which provides college scholarships to deserving high school seniors. They also organize the church’s pictorial directory.

Social Ministry – this committee works to “Share Jesus With All” with a focus on outreach into the local community.

Westside Senior Center – We help serve lunch Monday through Friday during our scheduled weeks, from 10:45 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (WELCA) – All women at Kent Memorial are members of this group and are brought together during the church year through many activities, such as making stuffed animals and hats and booties for the local hospital, the Annual Rummage Sale in August and the Annual Cookie/Candy/Bake Sale in December. The activities support organizations both within and outside of Kent. Meetings are the first Tuesday of each month.

COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS HOSTED BY KENT MEMORIAL:

  • Community Blood Center of the Ozarks – blood drives twice a year
  • Greater Lake Area Chorale
  • Lake Jazz Band
  • Red Cross – designated as an emergency/disaster location; service center, storage facilities, parking facilities
